This poem is an ode to the loved ones that are no longer with us. I truely belive when you see a Robin at Christmas it’s someone popping by to let us know they’re near.

My grandmother was a HUGE Christmas fan and I know if there was a way she could let us know she was near, that would be it.

If You See A Robin

If you see a Robin,
When Christmas lights aglow,
It’s a visit from a loved one,
Whom you once used to know.

So if he perches on the fence,
Or lingers by the door,
It’s the soul of someone special,
Coming back to you once more.

If you see a Robin,
It may be more than it seems,
A loved one saying softly,
“I’m closer than your dreams.”

If he should tilt his velvet head,
Remember things your loved ones said—
The ones who walked beside you then,
Have come to visit once again.

If you see a Robin,
Pause a while, be still—
For Christmas brings us reminders,
That arrive with winter’s chill.

Perhaps it stays to tell you,
what words could never do—
that leaving was not leaving,
It was only changing view.

So if you see a Robin,
Smile through every tear—
For Christmas is a doorway
Where loved ones can come near.

If You See a Robin Poem

Why are Robins associated with Christmas?

Robins are associated with Christmas primarily due to Victorian-era postmen, who wore bright red uniforms and were nicknamed “Robins”.

Artists began depicting the birds delivering cards instead of the postmen, cementing the association with the festive season.

A lot of people also believe that Robins are the spirits of their loved ones.
