Christmas Day, although magical for most, can be ‘The loneliest Day’ for those with mental health, the elderly and people who are alone. 

Some big charities such as ‘Mind’ are closed Christmas Day and boxing day, which is why we have put together this lost of places you can actually contact on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and boxing Day. 

Where can I get Mental Health Support this Christmas?

Ways to Get through Christmas if you’re Lonely or Strugglling

  • Call one of the above Helplines
  • Ask Family/Friends to include you where possible
  • Join online forums to chat with other ilke-minded people
  • Check which local churches, community groups and soup kitchens open on Christmas Day and pop along. 
  • Make a Christmas Day Itinerary – Phone family or friends to wish them a merry christmas, check in on any neighbours that might also appreciate some company, cook or order in your favourite food, grab a box of chocolates and plan your Christmas TV viewing for the day. 
  • Volounteer at a Homeless Shelter or Telephone Helpline – There’s no better feeling than helping others, so why not take the opportunty to do so? you will be keeping busy and doing some good for others, there’s nothing like hearing other peoples stories to make you realise your life isn’t that bad (or that there are other people in the same position)
